fun, riding, safety

We're not lost, we're on an adventure.

From the Chapter Director

Happy New Year Columbia Wingers!

As we start another, and some say the "2012 end of the world" final year, I am reminded of an acronym I learned as a Boy Scout leader, KISMIF. Keep It Simple, Make It Fun. My intent is to try to keep that in mind as we discuss issues and activities for the chapter. With some work, a little luck and your help, 2012 will be another great year for the biggest little riding club in Oregon.

Business

As you all know, Rick and I have swapped places, so now I am your CD and he is Assistant. Recycling is alive and well in Chapter P. Lynne, Fern, Fay, Dana, Gary and Marti are all returning as Treasurer, Safety, Stores, Phone Tree and membership, respectively. New to the group are Scott S and Bill as Ride Coordinators and John C as Webmaster. A big THANKS to all new and returning staffers.

John has some big plans for our website, so check it often.

Safety:

Fern has been busy putting together safety topics for our meetings this year. Some involve guest speakers. Check out the calendar and don’t miss them.

A couple of us are kicking around the idea of doing our own ride safety video this year. I’ll let you know how that comes along.

Riding:

Remember, Breakfast/lunch rides are now on the second Sunday instead of the first Sunday. This should give us better spacing between rides.

Fun:

August 3-6 is our long weekend trip. Start scheduling your vacations accordingly. The destination will be decided at this month’s meeting. I’ll send out an email with the choice of routes.

The chapter has decided to help put on the Ride for the Paws event this year. When a date is decided, we’ll let you know.

Several state "gatherings" are being planned for this year. One in the south, put on by Chapter A (Grants Pass), one will be the main state gathering (rally) in Canyonville over the Labor Day weekend and a northern gathering that we will organize. Dates are still being discussed, we’ll let you know.

Ride safe and watch the weather.
